"Many hands make light work" is certainly true around camp. Work groups have also discovered working side-by-side is a great way to grow closer to each other, while offering a tremendous service to Barakel. Spring and fall are especially good times for groups to get organized and join together to tackle a project. The list of work is always long. Help is needed from those with special skills or those who may just have strong backs.

Spring clean-up is a mammoth task around camp. The grounds work alone is incredible! Two Saturdays in May are set aside as spring Co-Labor Challenges. Camp offers this to Senior High youth groups (minimum age of 14), families (with children able to contribute to the work), and adults. Workers arrive on Friday and work all day Saturday. The day ends with supper before heading home. Space is limited so plan ahead as groups have been turned away in recent years. Can you imagine how much work 75 dedicated people can get done on a spring Saturday? (Barakel Schedule)

Three steps to get involved in the May Co-Labor weekends:

One — Contact Elaine (ElaineS@campbarakel.org or 989-848-2279) to reserve a place for you or your group. Be prepared to give us an estimated number of workers.

Two — Download the Work Crew Application form. Name, address and phone number is required for each individual.

Three — Return the Work Crew application with final count at least one week in advance of your arrival.
