Dear Friends,

It is hard to believe that summer has passed, the leaves have fallen brown to the ground and the temperature here at Barakel brings white frost to the car windows. The Lord proved to us over and over these past seasons that His grace and favor are plentiful. He gave us wisdom, strength and love as we sought to minister to the dear people He sent our way. “God is able to make all grace abound to you, so that in all things at all times, having all that you need, you will abound in every good work.” 2 Corinthians 9:8

At the end of summer camp in August, we had a delightful time with our sons, Mike and Tom, and their wives Angela and Renee in downtown Detroit. We went to Comerica Park where we saw our beloved Detroit Tigers win an exciting game. We enjoyed visiting the Ren-Cen and walking the Detroit River Front together. Dave and I spent our last day there doing a “progressive dinner” using the people mover to bring us to various stops around the city. After that, we headed to Port Sanilac for a few days and stayed at the house of a dear friend that looks out over beautiful Lake Huron. We had a good rest there.

November and December are months that we do maintenance projects and cleaning that cannot easily be done while there are campers on the property. Dave and Kieth (our food service director) just finished moving everything from the E.S. walk-in freezer to the W.S freezer. This summer, the freezer had an ongoing leaking problem that affected the basement floors below the freezer and now need extensive repair. This is also a good time for taking vacations. Dave is planning to attend the annual deer hunting trip to the U.P. with his good friends. Betsy is recovering from a long bout of illness. She was sick with the flu starting the beginning of October which turned into a secondary infection and Pneumonia. She has been following the doctor’s order to rest. She is thankful to be well enough to go on the annual “girls camp” trip to Florida with her sisters and nieces at the same time Dave is hunting down the Big Buck!

We plan on going to spend Thanksgiving weekend with our family downstate. On the Monday after Thanksgiving (Nov. 28th), Betsy is scheduled to have rotator cuff repair surgery on her right shoulder at William Beaumont Hospital in Royal Oak. She will stay at her sister’s house in Waterford to recover.

We are so appreciative of your continued prayer. Your partnership in this Kingdom work is an ongoing encouragement to us. Let us know how we can pray for you too.

Love, In Christ
