Kathy is in charge of camp’s mailings and laundry and, also works at making signs for our roads and buildings. She also helps in the kitchens and the Trading Post. She came to Barakel in 1986 and her home church is Comins Mennonite Church in Comins, Michigan. Kathy Curtis (October 2008) Hi, All, Just a short update on current events: Summer went well, and we have our new Food Service Director in place. He'll do a lot of learning in the next several months, until he's been through all our different camping "seasons". I've been able to continue some baking on East Side this fall - Magic Bars and Pumpkin Surprise for Ladies' Retreats, and Coca Cola cake and Applesauce Bars for the Men. Lots of fun to do! : The two gals I've been mentoring have both moved on to new "things" in other states. In place of that ministry , I am now teaching Algebra I. I have two students, and a possible third - all homeschooled. It's been fun to work with them, but I am having to do a bit of review! (And learning to do math in a new way!). We are beginning to look at my work load in earnest. Please pray for us as we seek how to lighten the load. Efforts are being made to remove the laundry from my plate. We have another staff lady volunteering on a partial basis, but still need a way to cover summer. Thanks for praying!
I had the great privilege twice this fall to act as Dining Hall Hostess for Ladies' Retreats - welcoming on Friday night, praying for meals, giving announcements at mealtime. A bit out of my comfort zone, but it seemed to go well, and it was great to have more direct contact with campers. Thank you for praying with me:
