Lee joined Barakel’s staff in 1975. He directs the program department and oversees grounds maintenance. Petie came in 1976, and works with health-care. Lee and Petie are the parents of three children: Eunice, who is married, Jenny, and Titus. They attend the Fairview Mennonite Church. Lee and Eleanor Brown (September 2008) Barakel days and nights are starting to cool down. Leaves are beginning to change from summer green to fall colors. Autumn is in progress and so are our fall retreats. We've had families, grandparents, couples and ladies and will have men and fathers and daughters before the end of October. It's a great time to be here at camp. Lee especially enjoys the cooler days of autumn. He leads a worship walk along the shores of Shear Lake each Saturday and Sunday morning during retreats. This fall he is sharing about Creator worship. In his free time, he likes to read about nature - the birds, the bees, the trees. "Petie" works mainly in camp cleaning and food preparation for the retreats during this time of year. She will be helping with Pioneer Club at the church in Fairview from November through March. She enjoys a walk in the woods or a good book to read in her spare time. Eunice and John are enjoying their one year old Nora. She is walking on her own now and jabbering a lot when we talk with them on the phone. They continue with their church ministry in Wisconsin. Jenny is in her second year of teaching third grade at the Hopi Mission School on the Hopi Indian reservation in northeast Arizona. She has 11 students this year. She is also helping to coach the cross country team. Even the elementary students run cross country out there. Titus has begun his first year as a student at Michigan Tech University in Houghton in the Upper Peninsula at the base of the Keweenaw Peninsula. It is beautiful country up there. He is beginning his studies in the Forestry Department in environmental sciences and applied ecology. He is enjoying learning about the area and the school. He is also getting involved in some of the Christian groups on campus. Summer camp seemed to run well this year and we had a great summer staff to work with. We pray that campers will continue to think about and act on decisions they made here this summer. Thank you for praying for us and the ministry at camp. We are grateful to be a part of the staff.
